Wednesday. 10AM. Free. Open to anyone!
The Pear’s Knitting Club meets every Wednesday morning at 10AM for an informal catch-up. It is as much a social gathering as it is a time to share knitting skills and work on joint projects. Since its beginning in April 2018, the Knitting Club has created numerous blankets, scarves and hats for people living rough in the Port and for remote communities that were not able to access warm items during Covid.
The Knitting Club has an official knitting teacher, Glender, who will happily teach you how to knit if you are a beginner. Numerous knitters are very experienced and can help you out with any mistakes or difficult projects! Our resident crocheter, Lesley, can also help you with any crochet questions and trouble shooting.
Occassionally, the Knitting Club sells some of their knitted teddies and animals, to raise money to support different charities. In the past, the group has raised money to buy sanitary items for Essentials 4 Women, Catherine House, Animal Rescues after the bushfires and to support The Pear’s neighbourhood program activities.
