What better moment to get rid of your old stuff than the Queen’s Birthday weekend! Out With The Old!
The Pear is hosting a third second-hand street market on Saturday June 8. Note: this is a change of date due to weather conditions predicted for Monday. Think neighbourhood garage sale, surrounded by lovely neighbours and with great coffee available!
If you would like a stall to sell your second-hand or handmade goodies, get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org. Stalls are $10 to help cover the cost of closing the road. Update: all stalls are booked out. But please get in touch if you would like to stay updated about when the next market will be!
This weekend The Pear is celebrating one year since opening with nothing less than a ‘Neighbourhood Street Party’. Since opening, the neighbourhood has embraced The Pear as a place to meet new and old friends, to get good coffee, and to have a chat. The Pear’s aim has always been to reduce social isolation (particularly amongst older people), to connect neighbours with neighbours and to make people proud of living in Alberton.
This ‘Stories From Our Neighbourhood’ video is part of a project by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield in partnership with the Media Resource Centre. The filmmakers followed the renovation of The Pear in 2017, our opening on January 27, 2018 and our first few months. This video shows why we opened and why spaces like our are so important.
On Sunday January 27, we celebrate The Pear’s first birthday in style: with and for our neighbourhood. A true neighbourhood celebration with live music by local musicians, special kids activities, food & drink and a market with products by local businesses and community organisations.
